Denny Hamlin / No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry Preview VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 at Darlington Raceway

·        HAMLIN AT DARLINGTON: Denny Hamlin will make his lone NASCAR Xfinity Series start this season driving the No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry this weekend at Darlington Raceway for the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200. The start will mark Hamlin’s 11th-career series start at the track. In his previous 10 starts at the historic track, Hamlin has earned five wins, including last season. Hamlin has eight finishes of second or better in his 10 starts and all five of his wins have come from the pole starting position. Hamlin also has two wins at the track in the Cup Series, including last year’s Bojangles’ Southern 500.

·        JGR AT DARLINGTON: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) has 52 total starts at Darlington Raceway in Xfinity Series competition earning 10 wins, 27 top-five finishes, 36 top-10 finishes and seven pole starting positions. The team has led 1,087 laps, completed 7,201 of 7,600 attempted laps (94.8%) and earned an average start of 12.2 and an average finish of 9.9. Denny Hamlin leads the team with five wins followed by Kyle Busch with two wins and Bobby Labonte, Tony Stewart and Joey Logano each earned one win for the team at Darlington Raceway.     

·        THIS WEEK ON THE NO. 18 CAMRY: Competing in his only Xfinity Series race this season, Denny Hamlin will pilot the No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry this weekend for the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200. Hamlin and the team will participate in the throwback weekend, throwing it back to 1998 and J.D. Gibbs’ No. 42 Carolina Turkey scheme. Gibbs made his first Xfinity Series start at Darlington Raceway in 1998 piloting this scheme.

·        DOUBLE DUTY: In addition to running Saturday’s VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200, Hamlin will also compete in Sunday’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 in the No. 11 Toyota Camry. For both races, Hamlin is looking to defend his wins from last year and sweep the weekend at Darlington Raceway.

·        RACE INFO: The VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 at Darlington Raceway is scheduled for Saturday, September 1, 2018. Coverage will begin at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC, Sirius XM Channel 90 and MRN Radio.
