Denny Hamlin Wins at Darlington Raceway

DARLINGTON, SC (Sept. 2, 2017)

Post-Race Highlights:

·        Starting from the pole position for the Sport Clips VFW 200 at Darlington Raceway, Denny Hamlin led 33 laps in the No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry on his way to his second consecutive victory at the historical South Carolina track.

·        With the race underway, Hamlin quickly settled in to the lead and began pulling away from the field. Following several cautions in stage one and slipping a few positions in the opening laps, Hamlin was scored in the fourth position when the caution flag waved on lap 45 to end stage one. Crew chief Eric Phillips called Hamlin to pit road for four tires, fuel and a round of adjustments to help with the handling of the Sport Clips Toyota Camry. The race restarted on lap 51 with Hamlin in the eighth position.

Denny Hamlin / No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry Preview Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway

·        HAMLIN AT DARLINGTON: This weekend when Denny Hamlin climbs in to the No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry for the Sport Clips Haircuts VFW 200, he will make his 10th-career NASCAR XFINITY Series start at the historical track and be on the hunt for his fifth-career win at the track in the series. In his previous nine starts at the track, Hamlin has earned four wins (2006, 2007, 2010, 2015), all from the pole starting position. Hamlin has seven top-five finishes with his worst finish being eighth in his track debut in 2004.

Jones Caught Up in Multicar Crash

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jul. 23, 2017)

A four-car crash on the front straightaway ended Erik Jones’ and the No. 77 Sport Clips Toyota team’s day 10 laps from finish of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

 

The early exit left the NASCAR Cup Series rookie with a 31st-place finish in his first series start at The Brickyard.

Jones has two starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at the historical track with an average start of 2.5 and an average finish of 28.0

·        JONES AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY: Erik Jones will be looking for redemption this weekend when he makes his second-career NASCAR Cup Series start at Daytona International Speedway in Saturday night’s Coke Zero 400 behind the wheel of the No. 77 Sport Clips Toyota Camry. In his first race at the 2.5-mile superspeedway, Jones started the 2017 Daytona 500 from the 34th position and finished 39th after getting caught up in a multicar crash just past the halfway point.

Denny Hamlin/No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry Preview American Ethanol E15 250 at Iowa Speedway

No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry News and Notes:

·        BENJAMIN AT IOWA SPEEDWAY: Kyle Benjamin will make his first Iowa Speedway XFINITY Series start this weekend piloting the No. 18 Sport Clips Toyota Camry. While this may be his first start at the track in the series, Benjamin is no stranger to the Newton, Iowa track. Benjamin has four starts in the K & N East Pro Series earning one win in 2016 where he started from the pole and led 36 laps. He has three top-10 finishes with an average start of 6.0 and average finish of 7.8 in K & N East Pro competition. In addition, Benjamin has two Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) starts at the track. His most recent ARCA start in 2016 resulted in a pole, 41 laps led and a second-place finish. His other lone ARCA start resulted in a fifth-place finish.

·        JONES AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY: Erik Jones will make his first-career NASCAR Cup Series start at Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend for the Food City 500. Even though it will be Jones first-career start at the half-mile track, Jones got his first taste of Cup racing at The Last Great Colosseum in 2015 when he climbed in the No. 11 Toyota Camry to fill in for Denny Hamlin. Since Hamlin started the race, he was also credited with the finish. Jones has seen success in the XFINITY Series, earning a win in 2016 and finishing in the top 10 for three of his four starts at the track in the series. Jones also has one start in Truck competition at the track earning a sixth-place finish.

Denny Hamlin Finishes 14th at Auto Club Speedway

FONTANA, Calif. (Mar. 26, 2017)

Post-Race Highlights:

·        For the fifth race of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, teams headed west to Auto Club Speedway for the Auto Club 400. Denny Hamlin qualified the No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry in the second position and ran the majority of the race in the top 10 before dropping to 14th in the closing laps.

·        HAMLIN AT AUTO CLUB SPEEDWAY: Denny Hamlin will make his 16th-career NASCAR Cup Series start this weekend at Auto Club Speedway. In his previous 15 starts at the Southern California track, Hamlin has recorded two top-five finishes, five top-10 finishes and three pole starting positions. Last season Hamlin tied his career-best finish of third from 2008. Hamlin also has seven NASCAR XFINITY Series starts at the track with his best finish coming in 2007 when he finished third.

Sport Clips Haircuts announced today its continued partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing and driver Denny Hamlin for the 2017 season, and the addition of Furniture Row Racing and driver Erik Jones. Sport Clips will increase its sponsorship in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series to include two races with Hamlin and four races with Jones. In addition, Sport Clips will continue to have a presence in the XFINITY Series with one race with Hamlin.

Denny Hamlin Finishes Fourth in the Southern 500

DARLINGTON, SC (Sept. 6, 2016)

  • Denny Hamlin returned to the famed Darlington Raceway over Labor Day weekend in the No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry “Throwback Edition”, inspired by the No. 11 car driven by NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Darrell Waltrip in the 1980’s, and came up just short of taming the “Lady in Black”. Due to inclement weather in the area caused by Hurricane Hermine, NASCAR officials cancelled all track activity on Friday, including qualifying, and set the 40-car field according to the NASCAR rule book, placing Hamlin in seventh for the start of the Bojangles’ Southern 500.

  • TOO TOUGH TO TAME – OR IS IT?: Denny Hamlin returns to the famed Darlington Raceway for a Labor Day weekend full of action-packed racing.  Hamlin will pilot the No. 11 Sport Clips Toyota Camry “Throwback Edition” during Sunday’s Bojangles' Southern 500. The special scheme, inspired by the No. 11 car driven by NASCAR Hall-of-Famer Darrell Waltrip in the 1980’s, will also be aboard Hamlin’s Sport Clips Camry in the XFINITY Series race on Saturday. Hamlin set the track record in round two of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying on Friday afternoon and claimed a third-place starting position for Sunday’s 200-lap race.
